A calorie is just a calorie right?
It doesn't matter what I eat as long as I'm in a calorie deficit?
Wrong...let me tell you why.
We've spoken on the quality of processed and ultra processed foods before and as you can imagine they are poor. Little or no nutritional value food leaving you nutritionally depleted and hungry hours later.
When choosing your food you need to think about quality over quantity.
Is this food going to make me healthier and get me closer to my goal or is it taking me further away from my goal.
Whole foods are the answer - foods that are naturally found on the earth.
These are foods that years ago you could have bought at a market and they didn't need packaging and an ingredients list. There is only one ingredient and that is the food itself.
Beef, broccoli and apples for example...
They are foods that your body recognises and can use for all of the processes that it has to do each day. Including keeping you energised, boosting your immune system and maintaining a healthy weight.
The foods you choose have a direct correlation to your health, weight and size plus how efficient your immune system is.
Read that again...
The foods you choose have a direct correlation to your health, weight and size plus how efficient your immune system is.
Choose poor foods over a period of time and your health will deteriorate, disease will occur and you will gain weight.
But choose healthy food and the opposite is true. You will feel alive, energised, will have a healthy body weight/size plus you will be thriving.
In regards to your weight (as 95% of our clients are looking to lose weight) choosing whole foods will keep you fuller for longer and help to remove cravings.
These foods will have less calories and you will need to eat less of them, therefore you will lose weight. We don't really get clients to count calories as it's important to get into good habits of eating the right types of foods.
Plus it's very hard to overeat when your diet is made up of meats, vegetables, salad and fruits and nuts.
But, If you're following a healthy food plan and your goal is to lose weight but it's not happening...tracking calories via MyFitnessPal can be very useful.
It's that simple, the hard bit is being consistent with it.
But we are there to help you so plesase reach out if you need help with foods choices or consistency.
So this week when you do your shop, please choose natural foods and make your food from scratch.
Make sure you achieve your protein goals for the day (1g protein for each 1lb of bodyweight) and this will really help your weight/fat loss goals and keep you feeling fuller for longer.
Good luck,
The Team at Club One Hundred
